Auto Detailing Pressure Washers

Pressure Washers and Auto Detailing- What You Should Know

While pressure washers are ideal for auto detailing, it is important to use the right kind of mobile pressure washers for the job. Those who do not understand the powerful pressure levels of these machines can end up having a bad experience when using pressure washing units for vehicle detailing. This is usually because they use high pressure washers for the job. Although higher pressure levels usually mean greater powerful cleaning capabilities, high pressure levels may damage certain surfaces that cannot withstand such force. It is important to understand pressure levels and steam temperatures before investing in a pressure washing unit.

The first thing to keep in mind is that when it comes to pressure washers for auto detailing, the pressure levels should be 1500 psi or below. Anything above this pressure level can cause damage to the vehicle body, including damage to the paint job. Conventional high pressure washers often have pressure levels of 3000 psi, which is too high and not suitable for auto detailing. On the other hand, mobile pressure washers with pressure levels of 1500 psi or less are ideal for different auto detailing tasks like removing grease, bug stains, and tree sap.

Steam temperatures are also important for auto detailing 1500 psi electric pressure washer units. However, dry steam cleaners lack the power to effectively clean vehicle surfaces and require constant wiping which can also damage paint jobs. It is best to opt for pressure washing units that also feature steam temperatures of 330ºF. This is the optimum temperature to clean hardened stains and mixed deposits from the surface.

In addition, it is recommended to use green cleaning chemicals, such as an eco-friendly mobile car wash or upholstery cleaner, when cleaning vehicles. Using these chemicals eliminates toxic run off, will not damage the car surface, and is safe for the operator to use.
